Sigtunarännet is an ice skating race on Lake Mälaren with start and finish in Sigtuna. The race takes place on controlled /maintained natural ice. Big parts of the track is ploughed during the whole winter, but the distance varies due to the weather conditions.
Sigtunarännet comes in four different distances: Full Distance (50 km), Half Distance (25 km), Ice Cross Challenge (4 km) and the Treasure Hunt (approx 2 km). It’s primarily a race for exercise but has also a competition class sanctioned by the Swedish Ice Skating Comity.
Sigtunarännet started as an alternative to Vikingarännet when the organisers decided to put the race on hold 2018. The host for Sigtunarännet is the non-profit-organisation of Sigtuna Sports Club. Head sponsor 2019 is the leading supplier of skating equipment and skate clothing Lundhags. Sigtunarännet also cooperate with Sigtuna Municipality, Frilufsfrämjandet, and sponsors such as Hotel Kristina and Cedecor.
