Sigtunarännet is an ice skating race on Mälaren with start and finish in Sigtuna. The race takes place on controlled /maintained natural ice. Big parts of the track is ploughed during the whole winter, but the distance varies due to the weather conditions.
Sigtunarännet comes in three different distances: full distance (50 km), half distance (25 km) and short distance (approx 2 km). It’s primarily a race for exercise but has also a competition class sanctioned by the Swedish Ice Skating Comity.
Sigtunarännet started as an alternative to Vikingarännet when the organisers decided to put the race on hold 2018. The hosts for the Sigtunarännet is the voluntary organisation of Sigtuna City Triathlon together with Vikingarännet Marknads AB, Frilufsfrämjandet, Sigtuna municipality and sponsors such as Hotell Kristina, Cedecor, Semper Good 'n Go, Sigtuna Sport Uteliv etc.
